Notes

2/5/13 ….and now come the jewel tones!

I have to say I’m a bit phased by how long this is taking to knit, and that of the 8 other Ravelers who started this project, only one has completed it!

30/4/13 Doing lots of tensions and trying out different fair-isle techniques. My right hand is VERY strong because over the years, I have built up the time I can knit, and now I can easily knit all day without RSI.

Although I like the ideal of using the left hand to knit ‘Continental’ and control one yarn shade whilst the right hand knits ‘English-style’ with the other shade, I know that my left hand would quickly tire (it was aching whilst making the swatches!)

As this is such a large project, I would never finish it if I have to keep stopping, so I am sticking with the irritating method of knitting (or purling) with the right
hand only and swapping the yarns every 3 stitches.

14/6/13 - Back completed!!
30/6/13 - Left front finished - I’m on a roll!
4/8/13 - main knitting finished - blocking. I didn’t need the second ball of Marmalade or Smoke!

18/9/13 - Nearly there! Weaving in ends (and there are lots!)

19/9/13 - Finished!! Love it. The way it buttons under the bust, the way it flaps open at the front, and of course the beautiful colours!!
