Basic stockinette socks for a swap partner’s husband. I cast on 80 stitches, worked 2x2 rib for a while, then switched to stockinette. The total leg length is about 5.5” since I had an ankle measurement and wanted to be sure it wasn’t too tight higher up his leg. Worked heel flap for 2.5 inches. Worked heel turn by knitting across 20 stitches + 3 stitches, purling back 6 stitches and so on as normal. Did gusset decreases to 78 stitches instead of 80 to have a slightly smaller foot than leg.
4/23/10 Finished the first sock last night. I knit the foot until it was 7.75”, then the regular toe until it was 12 stitches on the top and bottom and grafted it. I skipped one decrease row on the bottom of the toe to have the top and bottom stitch counts match up.
4/28/10 I’m about 4” into the leg of the second sock. I definitely have a case of SSS with these! The first sock took me a week from start to finish, and this second sock is already on day 5 and only part of the leg is done. I just knit an inch and I’m planning to finish up the leg today (5.5” total).
4/30/10 Spent a dramatic day at the doctor’s office yesterday with some contractions and forgot to bring any knitting with me so I didn’t get to work on these. I just finished up the leg today, and started on the heel flap.
5/2/10 Finished second heel flap and heel turn.
5/3/10 Second sock is finished and toe is grafted. Sewing in ends.
