stitch marker after first three stitches to set for gusset. I’m knitting 1, M1L, knit next stitch, M1R, knit one, then marker. Knit the rest of that round and next 2 rounds. Then repeat pattern (knit 1, M1L, knit to last stitch before marker, M1R, knit one, marker) to add 2 stitches every repeat until I get to 17 stitches for thumb gusset (21 total rows), then I will pick up 3 stitches from main part of glove when I finish the thumb later. (note: m1L = pick up bar between sts from front to back, knit in back. m1R = pick up back to front, knit in front)

I added three stitches to make up for the gusset on main part of hand and knitted in the round for 10 rounds before starting fingers.
