Notes

So this pattern as is did not fit. I used the recommended yarn, Vanna’s Choice and it was for someone with a much smaller foot.

I wear a woman’s size 10 shoe and with three additional rows added after row 16, I still had to build up the heel for these to fit. I actually should have added 4-5 rows after row 16 for the length to be correct, but still would have had to build up the heel for them to stay on. I both built up the heel and decreased some stitches to get it to curve in a little and shape it work with my heel. I slipped stiched all around a second time and then made the chain for the strap. I had to add 4-5 extra stitches for the strap, single crocheted one row of the strap, then slip stiched back and the rest of the way around the slipper. I also had to adjust where the strap came back into the slipper. The recommendation in the pattern looked very crooked when worn.

I don’t think I’m going to bother making the second one. They still feel too small.

11/6/2010: I vaguely remember back when I was in elementary school and used to knit a similar situation where I was making slippers that wouldn’t stay on my heel. My mom said something about me not being able to make slippers because of my foot. I guess some lessons we need to learn more than once in life.
