Tried a new cast-on (new for me)

Following a lot of the goldenfleece adjustments. Co 160 stitches.
Started with size 4 needles and gradually went .25 mm after each 6ridges down to 2.5 by the end. Added 5 vertical ribs after 12 ridges

On my previous cowl I needed to go very fast so I “unvented” a purl-avoidance version:
start rows in the back AND when you need to switch from knit to purl for teh long stretch until you come to ribbing in the center you do wrap & turn, turn knitting inside out and knit! On the next round just pick up the wrap as you knit the stitch. Doing this helps avoid longer stretches of purl if you do not like purling or if you are faster in knitting than purling, like me, it helps speed up the project
To avoid purl bumps in cc showing on purl ribs (mc) I knitted the last knit rows in mc.
As my niece is a tall and thin 9-yr old I had to decrease 8 stitches evenly across the back (after adding the 5 vertical ribs each side after rib 12) for it to hug the neck and also knit an extra long neck for it to come right up her chin when folded.
