I lost an armwarmer at Rhinebeck last year, and have been looking to replace them with something more colorful. I bought this yarn from Island Yarns during the greater Boston yarn crawl, and loved its tonal wine and pale fuscha colors. The stitch is from Barbara Walker’s Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns. The cable, with all of its smaller strands intertwined, looks similar to diagrams of capillaries. When checking someone’s vital signs, attention is paid to the amount of time the skin under your fingernail takes to go from white to red when pressed and released. If you are cold, capillary refill can take a few seconds or more. These armwarmers ought to help me maintain a normal cap refill time. :)
