When I finished my largest tote in black and khaki, I had enough raffia to make another version using the colors that I absolutely love - the grey! I combined Light Grey which I also used in my WHIRL tote pattern with the Charcoal I used in my CUBE tote pattern for this version. This shape is more reminiscent of PLEAT tote , which is taller.
I got the granny square blocking board from fibre space website, which was very helpful in organizing all these motifs and blocking them to measurements, as this tote’s assembly success highly relies on it!
As much as I love the charcoal, finding the right color handles for this was a challenge, I really wanted the handles to match (I know, perfectionism at work). And my solution ended up being getting the most matching colorway of cross body straps, which I then cut off and sewn onto the tote.
I got the screw on metal purse feet and only used 2 at the joining points on the bottom, to keep the tote’s bottom as clean as possible when putting it on the floor.
The result - still folds like magic, or just like origami!
