I’ve made a few of these after seeing my friends daughter using a store bought one. Recognizing the middle part of the hat as a yo, k2tog, k every other row pattern, I realized I could make one too.

Took a few adjustments of needles to get ribbing right to fit my head and for the decreases. Once I got it, I can’t stop making them…super easy and comfortable to wear and in Michaels Charisma yarn, super soft!

I’m working on writing up pattern and having someone test it for me so I can post it here for those who would like to try making one.

2/20/25 - Getting back to making these and re-read pattern to make sure it was correct for others to use. Found that I missed one row in the pattern -

ERRATA = Row 32 is K1, K2tog and Row 33 is K2tog to end with 8 stitches.
