Kind of a fiddly project. Ended up a little short and wide. I did check gauge, but didn’t really match row gauge well, and was a hair over on stitch gauge. I don’t have a baby to actually try the finished product on.

NECK OPENING
Replace the first paragraph with the following -
Next row (RS) K21(24, 27) for right back, p1, k3 for button band; with a 2nd hank of MC, cast on 4 sts to LH needle, k these 4 sts, p1 for buttonhole band, k24(27, 30) for left back - 25(28, 31) sts for right back and 29(32, 35) sts for left back. Work both sides at once, as established in St st with 1 Rev St st between bands and back sts, for ½“/1.3cm, end with a WS row.

Continue with pattern as written.
