Notes

After reading the pattern, I think I will do provisional COs (I don’t want the CO edge to restrict the stretch of the ribbing,)

Absolutely weird construction with the side inserts. Is it genius or does it make it unnecessarily complicated?! I’ll play along so I can see.

Doing SS because frankly, I don’t want to be bothered with seed stitch! I did do seed stitch under the arms because the SS pulled in too much.

I got the first front attached to the back, no problem, but couldn’t figure out how to attach the second one with the short edge in the same position under the arm. Is it because seed stitch is reversible & SS is not? It’s only two short rows & it can’t make that much difference, so I redid the fronts without short rows. I didn’t understand why they weren’t done at the very end anyway. I did 77 rows on the first side panel & 76 on the second one.

I did 37 rows of seed stitch for each side panel.

Sleeves - I tried W&T, Japanese short rows & finally German short rows, but couldn’t make any of them look decent. I gave up on short rows for the sleeves. So, no short rows on the sleeves either. Picked up 78 stitches & knit the first 10 rounds even. I started the round at the armpit & did K2tog decreases one stitch in from the BOR marker every 4th round (11, 15, 19, 23, 27, 31, 35, 39 & 43) until I had 60 stitches left.

For the neck, front & arm ribbing, I alternated the solid & handspun yarns every two rows. Same for the waist ribbing, but I also added eyelets on row 11 so I could feed a tie through instead of attaching the ties to the bottom front panels. I did a 3 stitch I-cord on size 3 needles, 46” long for the tie.

Well, the eyelets & I-cord tie idea didn’t work out, so I ripped back to eliminate the eyelets & finished with straight ribbing.
