The moment I saw this pattern, that looks a bit like a Bob Ross painting, I had to make it. But I wanted something I can wear all year, it’s just way too beautiful to only be pulled out during harsh winters. I opted for wool and cotton blend yarn, which promises to be sturdy but not too warm, and easy to care for. The subtly heathered look is an additional benefit!
I’m planning on making modifications:
- Boob darts to accommodate boobs.
- Short rows neck shaping, obviously.
- Dark green forest background instead of brown
- Grey outlines of mountains instead of brown. Ew, brown.
- Blue sky colour goes way up and includes the neck ribbing.
My friend helped me pick the name for my project. Of course, it’s named after a Bob Ross painting (The Joy of Painting: Season 30, Episode 4)

Finally had time to finish sleeves. Casting on the body. Exciting! Wish this was done already, today it’s definitely sweater weather.

Took a little break to finish socks I’ve been knitting on the side as a to-go project. I just needed to finish something.

Boob darts are 2 rounds away from done. Attaching sleeves and doing neck/back shaping short rows after, before colourwork, the way Jennifer Steingass does it, I like the effect and the fit so much more than recommended in the pattern.

I decided to do the kids’ version of waves, as it appeals to me much more. Added additional 2 rows of MC before the waves to compensate.
