Notes

A family friend’s birthday is coming up soon, and she has wanted a nice slouchy knitted beanie for a while. The one in particular that she was coveting was a cable knit beanie that, instead of being knit from the brim to the crown like normal, was knit sideways. It was a pretty beanie, and I liked the concept, so I went to work developing a similar style beanie that I could make for her as a gift.

My version of the beanie was knit on size 15 needles with a very soft chunky yarn. I did a longtail cast on with 46 stitches. There are two sizes of cable, a 2 stitch and a 6 stitch. One side has 4 stitches of welt stitch to create a ribbed brim. The pattern is an 18 row repeat. I did 5 total repeats.

Modeled by the beanie’s new owner, Marci, who I think looks absolutely adorable in it!
