Note - this navy blue mitt made from the sport yarn is too big for a boy - it is an adult size. I’m going to make a new pair using size 2 dpns and fingering yarn for the boy. I’m also going to change the stockinette thumb to ribbing because I don’t like how the thumb rolls down instead of making a nice fold as the fingers section does.
One down one to go. The thumb and top fold down for Nintendo DS play, then unfold when it is cold outside to keep fingers warm. What 9-12 year old boy wouldn’t love a pair of these gloves?
update 1-30-2012 made new pair with sock yarn (loved the Heritage yarn) on 2s. The ribbed thumbs look much nicer and fold down neatly. Much better size for a 10 year old.
