10-31-2012: Finally, a photo of the baby in his hat - now 2-1/2 months old. It never fails that non-knitters put hats on babies with the join showing instead of at the back of the head where it belongs ;)
9-19-2012: want to mention how much I love the little bobbly thing on the top of this hat. Used yarn trimmings of the same color to do the wee bit of stuffing called for. It can’t be pulled off like the yarn in a pom-pom can - making it so practical for a baby!

7-1-2012: Hope to add a photo of my son and daughter-in-law’s new little nephew in this “rasta hat” soon after his birth in August.

6-30-2012: I’m trying Vicki Square’s “South American Join in-the-round” for the first time and it is super! Saw it demonstrated on “Knitting Daily” TV show. The best for “jogless” stripes yet, in my experience. See bottom photo; you can barely see where color changes.
Here’s how it goes:
Work to last stitch of round before color change. Slip this last stitch knitwise. Temporarily remove end of round marker. Leaving the next stitch on the left-hand needle, Pick up (from the back), the stitch in the row below this stitch, placing it on the left needle. Slip this picked-up stitch knitwise to right needle. You have now placed two stitches on the right-hand needle. Using old color, Insert tip of left needle into front of these two stitches and knit (as in a ssk). Replace end-of-round marker on right needle and begin knitting next round using new color.
