12-17-2012: I’ve decided to declare this blanket finished! I’m using it to keep warm while watching T.V., so I think it must not need its long agonized-over border after all! If I ever decide to add one, I’ll post a photo.
3-27-2011: Well, just took out the second border. I picked up too many stitches per square (56) and the border is ruffling. I think I may knit my fancy border separately and sew it on. Then someday, I’ll do some more research and try again. Better luck next time!
3-19-2011: The second border seems to be working out o.k. I have approx. 70 short rows in 7 corner stitches. 3 more corners to go along with the sides of course - daunting but do-able. I think this blanket will end up taking every bit of my 50 balls of Aurora 8!
I like it better than my first border choice.
3-11-2011: Spent the day knitting on one skein’s worth of yarn in my chosen border. I have 19 skeins left, and 18 outside square edges to border. I didn’t make it to the corner; therefore, this border is too wide. I’ll frog it today and pick another border.
My blanket will combine some squares from the GAA and some from the GAAA. Square #13 is a pattern from “Knitting Counterpanes” called “A Bit of Scotland”.
