8-29-2013 My friend in her new cardigan - she loves it! :)
8-25-14: Finished today. Liked the pattern - thanks, Suvi, for your help on lengthening the sleeves! The Malabrigo is so soft and warm; but this colorway was so inconsistent between skeins! It is painful to point out the much lighter shades in the right sleeve. I’ve decided not to try to over-dye due to fear :(
I’ll simply give the cardigan to my friend and see what she says. She’ll be getting it at night; maybe she won’t notice ;-)
8-16-14: picked this naughty WIP up again this past week. Realized last fall (Sept-Oct 2013) after finishing both sleeves (using Malabrigo), that I should have been alternating skeins. So I frogged second and third sleeves I had knit (see next to last photo), and, not being able to face starting this cabled sleeve for the umpteenth time, completed my second (and successful) body using the alternating skein method and Malabrigo. Now, 11 months later, knitting the sleeves again (4th and 5th sleeves I’ve knit for this same sweater!) I’ve decided to do the back side of the sleeves in stockinette because I don’t like the way the increases looked in reverse stockinette on the other (3) sleeves I’ve knitted.
9-5-2013: Bronco-Ravens opening season game is on and I’m finally starting the body of this cardigan again with different yarn. Had a false start last year with Rowan Calmer which was too stretchy given the unfortunate tight tension conditions to which I was subjecting it. Had to frog the entire (too small) body and one fully-completed sleeve (last photo is the Rowan Calmer sleeve from 2012).
This time around, although I got gauge exactly with size 8 needles, I’ve read that some Ravelers found Malabrigo Worsted pills when used for garments unless knitted more tightly. So I’ve chosen to give it a go with 7s, hoping for a size a little smaller than a 40-1/2.
