I used #20 crochet cotton to do the buttonhole stitch around the cloth yo-yos to make the loops for crocheting into instead of yarn as the pattern instructed. I also did not like the hole created when yo-yo was gathered, so I crocheted a little ring and stitched it into the center hole.
