Notes

Heather posted a link recently about channel island caston, lamenting that she always means to use it. It’s one in my arsenal but I also neglect or forget to use it, falling back mostly on provisional for my ribbed needs. So it kept sticking in my head.

For this hat, the use of CC in the caston followed by switching to MC and knitting 1x1 rib begged for channel island to be used. On the night of 2012.01.08, a Sunday, I found myself with free 2mm needles and I kept thinking about this hat. So much so that I suffered from some mild insomnia. I gave up on sleep as the startitis muse had me in her grasp so I went into my studio and caston, holding two strands of the CC (the Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock Multi in Roadside Gerry) with the Valley Yarns Huntington as my MC.

2013.02.14- my MIL fell in love with it, so I finally wove in the ends and I’ll gift it to her the next time we see her. I’ll miss this hat greatly but there should be enough leftover LL to make me another one. :) ♥

project log..
2012.03.06t- given up on getting better photos. one day. it has grown on me and E likes it too.
2012.02.17f- DONE! soaking now. will block. photos to come.
2012.02.16r- args! The grey tangled during my morning commute!! But in the afternoon -- decreases! Yay! :)
2012.02.15w- completed round 31 this morning
2012.02.13m- this went into hibernation for a while and i picked it back up this morning and completed round 22. think i’ll duplicate over the “bad colours”
2012.01.11w- completed round 7 of chart on am commute. not sure about how the LL is behaving. i expected it to pool madly so of course it isn’t. need to complete round 11 and look at it and decide if frog or keep. it has potential, just don’t think it is working out but am willing to invest a little more time to see if we can come to an agreement. ;)
2012.01.08s- beginning, 11pm. Cast on and finished 1.25 rounds.
