Finally making some progress on this after getting other projects done and having a late cast on. I don’t know how many times I’ve screwed up the both lace sections in different places. After knitting the Umaro blanket, my brain is wired to do a YO before/after a decrease, but after a day of readjusting, I’m good now. As my first seamless anything (weird I know), I’m glad there are lace sections on either side to break up the St st monotony.
I’ll be shocked if I finish this within a month. The fastest I’ve knitted a sweater/cardigan has been 2 months and those were with worsted weight.

Early morning update, pre-coffee, this should be fun… I’ve made some decent progress, knitted 5” of the body so far, which is better than expected. I’m not super happy with the pink streaks but that’s hand dyed for ya. I knew there was a risk of that happening, but not to this extent.

Yay, I made it to the armhole split. Maybe I have a chance at finishing this before the KAL is over. The fronts should go quickly.

Left front done. I knew the fronts were going to go quickly. Holy cow the lace pattern gets a little tricky while doing decrease shaping. You have to maintain the same number of lace decreases to the number of yarn overs otherwise the stitch count gets really wacky. There were times I placed the lace decreases along the armhole, then moved to the neck and back and forth depending on where they’d fit without affecting the selvedge. I also goofed a couple of times because I didn’t count the row numbers before I needed to do the neck decreases. I’m probably going to knit the back instead of the right front next to get it out of the way.

I can’t believe I finished both the back and left front today. Onto the sleeves. If I somehow finish those in two to three days, I’ll be even more shocked.

As you can see, I didn’t meet the KAL deadline. I knew the fairly impossible task would come to this so I’m not bummed out. If anything I’m burnt out. I made the mistake of not alternating the sleeves so they look pretty bad and somehow I think I knitted one about an inch longer than the other despite knitting at the same time and having the same stitch count. So I’m glad I didn’t finish in time because it gives me an opportunity to rip all that out and redo it properly.

Moving to hibernating. I don’t have plans to restart the sleeves anytime soon. I might start this again at the beginning of next year.

I’ve decided it’s time to finish this cardi and get it off the books instead of starting the Zweig sweater. This will be my mindless TV knit for awhile. I’ve also bought an additional skein in case I don’t have enough for the collar, which I’m not looking forward to knitting.
I’m knitting the sleeves one at a time because alternating TAAT sucks. Is it weird I’m actually excited to knit sleeves?
July 14, 2018
Finished the first sleeve. I alternated all the way up to the Sleeve Cap BO, then went back to one skein, otherwise it’s too difficult. Initially I was slipping the first stitch on each row, then I figure out I somehow screwed up the increases so tinked back to the cuff and stopped slipping stitches. I changed it because I didn’t like how difficult lifting the M1s were and they weren’t looking as neat on the alternating side. No ones going to see these selvedges so why bother.
I believe the stitch count for my size is still wrong in the increase section so I went ahead and did 10 row increases for both parts to hit the total number. There’s also a random misnumber “74” at the end of the Sleeve Cap BO.

I had a couple of days before Fall KALs so I decided to knit what I could since I didn’t have any other projects and finished the second sleeve today. I didn’t realize how close I was to finishing, otherwise I would’ve done it earlier. I’ve blocked out the body and I wish there was a measurement for the fronts so I know whether I’ve blocked out the lace pattern enough.
I don’t plan on picking this back up or looking forward to all that ribbing until at least December at the earliest.

Getting back to this after another long break. As I was sewing the shoulder seams, I realized I bound off the back incorrectly. Somehow I forgot to do the last round. I tried to redo it but I didn’t leave a long enough tail so I kept it as is and continued with the sewing.
Picking up all those stitches wasn’t as irritating as I thought it’d be, but I didn’t pick up as many as suggested. Along the back and bottom were the same, the sides were 1:1 instead, which was about 172 sts per side. I’m sure this will be a long and tedious rib knit and will make for great TV knitting.
I didn’t attach the sleeves yet because I haven’t blocked them and I didn’t want the extra weight or heat on my lap.

Halfway done with the ribbing, that is if I end up doing the full 4”. I’m surprised I’m this far along and not super annoyed with it. I actually might enjoy ribbing now?!? Possibly so to a small factor that after doing a couple stockinette only things, that’s boring me, especially the knit-only. Who would’ve thought I’d change my tune and I don’t hate purling as much anymore.
On the other hand, I’d like to get this done and off the needles already so I’m focusing more on this than my other projects that could use a little attention.

Officially done blocking out the collar/edge ribbing. I didn’t experience any puckering that other people are reporting or maybe it doesn’t bother me as much, not sure. I didn’t do any special pick up around the corner.
I love how it fits, except one sleeve is somehow longer than the other. I could’ve sworn I measured the second exactly by the row but it’s about an inch or less longer. Oh well, I don’t feel like redoing it.
