First pair of socks for me.
1/19 - After 3 restarts, yes 3, I’ve finally got the hang of things. First try I cast on 18 sts because I didn’t read the pattern correctly and didn’t realize my error until 14 rows in, oops. Second try I didn’t increase somewhere and had an odd number of sts on the needles. Third try I finally get to the lace/cable section and screw the first 2 rows up so badly I almost gave up. I’ve powered through to the other side and all is well now.
1/22 - I’m about 2 1/2” in, or just covering my pinkie toes. The cable and lace charts and quite easy to memorize once I figured everything out. This is going a lot slower than expected. In my mind I thought I’d knit a pair of socks in a week or two, but that’s out of the question unless I abandon all my other projects.
2/3 - I’m more than half way through the gusset increases and I wish I could knit faster; maybe if I didn’t take on so many projects at one time, damn interchangeables.
2/6 - Finished both heels. I tried them on for the first time and so relieved they fit perfectly. This may become a problem because I’ll want to knit more socks and throw out all those shit Target socks that get holes/don’t fit my large feet despite the label. Yep, this has started my sock addiction.
2/22 - DONE! My first pair of wool socks that fit my big feet. I’ll have to wash them later because my feet are desperate to get warm during this recent cold snap.
4/3 - After two washings, I’m disappointed in Cascade’s Heritage. I bought the yarn based on the spectacular reviews, but it seems Cascade has made some changes since and it’s no longer the great sock yarn it used to be. It’s very fuzzy all over the place and makes the cable look sloppy. Yes it’s splitty, as I suspect most superwash yarns are, but since I work with reclaimed yarn, it doesn’t bother me.
