Notes

I’ve been wanting black/white marl socks forever. Originally I was going to use 2 lace weight yarns and knit them together until I found Heritage Quatro in Pepper. I wasn’t planning on using an accent color for the toes, heels and cuffs, but looking through some of the projects inspired me to do the same.

Like all socks, knitted TAAT, magic loop, Judy’s Magic Cast On.

Nov 26, 2016

Finished the toes. 2” from the cast on seems a bit overkill, but that’s where my pinkie toe ends.

As I start knitting with the main color, I’m starting to see how slightly overtwisted Quatro is. It doesn’t seem like it’s going to be a problem.

Had to start over because I had 4 extra stitches per sock and it was too loose. My fault for not counting rows and stitches correctly. These might get done before the end of the year, depends how quickly I knit my Hildis coat.

Jan 07, 2016

Sold my needles for mini interchangables so these socks are taking a nap until the minis arrive.

Feb 17, 2017

Oops, I forgot to update this. I received my new Chiaogoo mini interchangeables about 3 weeks ago and have been knitting these whenever I get the chance.

Unlike the last vanilla socks, these are measured correctly along the sole (I wanted the stripes to appear correctly so the sole was a tad longer than I wanted). I’m about an 2” past the afterthought heel.

Feb 20, 2017

Only the cuff ribbing left. Knitted 5” from the heel, plan on knitting 2” cuffs to match the toe length.

Feb 22, 2017

Finished. I like the fit of these compared to the Burberry socks, although I haven’t sewn in the ends and washed these yet.

I’m skeptical on how well the Tanis yarn is going to hold up because it’s already showing little bits of wear. I’m crossing my fingers the Heritage holds up compared to the other socks I made. This yarn was made in Peru vs China.

March 26, 2017

Cascade Heritage update: after going through the wash and dryer a couple of times, I can report the Peru milled version holds up a LOT better than the China milled. There’s tiny bits of fluff appearing, but nothing like my other Heritage socks after the first wash.
