Cast on 40 stitches using long-tail tubular cast on. Knit 14 rnds of 1 x 1 ribbing, then begin thumb gusset (p1, k1, p1, pm, m1L, k1, m1R, pm, continue in p1, k1 rib to end of round). Increase to 15 stitches working increases every 3rd round , knit 5 more rounds, then put gusset stitches on waste yarn, c/o 1 stitch, and continue in 1 x 1 ribbing for 14 rounds or until fingers portion of mitt is desired length, then cast off using the invisible ribbed bind off or do a tubular bind off.
