Yarn from deep stash. I cannot remember the last time I knit a heel flap and gusset heel. I almost always do a Fish Lips Kiss heel or occasionally a W & T short row heel without picking up the wraps. So I decided to work a heel-flap-and-gusset heel this time.
I cast on 72 stitches for each sock using the German twisted cast on
Cuff down socks using magic loop on 2.25 Chiao Goo 40-inch circular needle. After knitting the cuff on separate needles, I put the socks on one needle to give TAAT another try. If I don’t like it, I can always move one of the socks back to its own needle.
Cuff: 20 rounds of 2 x 2 ribbing thus: k1, (p2,k2) x 8, p2, k1
Leg: 80 rounds of garter rib, my go-to sock stitch pattern
rnd 1: knit
rnd 2: k1, (p2,k2) x 8, p2, k1
Heel: heel flap and gusset using heel stitch for the flap and doing the gusset decreases on the bottom of the heel
I knit the foot with the instep in garter rib and the sole in stst.
The toe is a round toe

To get a really nice chain selvedge on the edges of the heel flap, I knit the first stitch of every row and slip the last stitch pw with the yarn in front
