Overview
Testing lace version of Billa--another fabulous Niebling adaptation from Jutta…very clear, straightforward and a breeze to follow.

Yarn
Using a lovely silver (with just a hint of green, and only in certain light) tussah single from DFY…a bit hairy and splitty but the softness, luster and beautiful halo are totally worth the extra care and attention needed.

Notes
166.40g to start.
Beads Miyuki size 6 color lined: matte peridot lined with light olive from Chevron Trading Post downtown.
Really pretty dull green with flashes of purple (I guess that’s the “olive”?).

Knit and beaded as written but because I’m a tight knitter, for shawls I add a yo after the first and before the last edge stitch on the RS, drop it on the WS.

Rows are starting to get kinda long…lots of stockinette and counting to big numbers like 14 ;) in this chart--easy to space out and lose my place. 561sts at the end of the chart.

5/25
Finished half of Chart 8, then taking two days off from knitting for some spring cleaning and time with kiddo.

Couldn’t stay away…
Chart 8 finished, 85.2g left. 633sts

5/28
Pace has slowed considerably.
Just two rows of Chart 9 done today…lots of hexmesh so very simple but those bisected dyo repeats easily trip me up if I’m not paying close attention.
Shawl is getting heavy and too big to stay in my lap while knitting…can’t wait to see it all spread out!

5/29
Chart 9 finished, 73.4g left. 929sts

5/30
Chart 10 finished, 57.4g left. 468sts to bind off.
Started bind off, using 2mm hook (currently have 2mm and 4mm, but no 3…and binding off with the 4mm just looked too loose and sloppy to me). Added a ch1 in between each sc and picot to allow for the smaller hook.

5/31
Bind off finished, 54.3g left.

6/1
Blocked this morning (and blowdried, because I’m impatient). Have been experimenting with curving the neck edge in various ways during blocking--some of these Nieblings create unusual edges when converted to shawl shape and the motifs look nicer (to me) with the lace opened up a bit more.
