Tried different yarns I had DK, fingering (held double) but was finding it hard to get the gauge prescribed.

Finally got 19.5st x 27.5 rows on 4.25mm needles with https://www.amazon.in/M-G-Enterprise-Knitting-Fingering-C... although I would have preferred knitting this in a plain color. But I also think this will help give the hat a good structure.

All said and done, I am super excited!!!

Used the crochet hook for the first time yesterday to make the cord :) While folding the brim to double it, realized it was such a mistake to not use the provisional cast on as picking edge stitches for knitting together was definitely a pain and slowed me down.

Instead of threading the cord at the end, I threaded it a couple inches into the fold and kept pulling along as I continued folding the brim. This helped in having least friction and the possibility of the darning needle getting entangled in the other stitches

My row gauge was off by 2 rows as expected by the pattern so had to reduce the total number of rows I knit as compared to the pattern. Realized that closing loop in circular can be such a pain! hahah. Wonder if I preferred having to seam my flat knit beanie than the pain to close a circular ( I am tight knitter !)

But all in all.. Love this beret and loved the pattern. It was a breeze. Uploading pics but yet to block and add better pics
