Notes

Test knitting the Seashell Top for Iris. I had some yarn in the stash that I decided to use. Tried gauge swatch with 3 different yarn bundles. 2 of them had a similar gauge so chose to go with the dark green. Measuring gauge in a lace pattern is a bit hard!

But anyway, I started knitting and was on my 3rd pattern repeat when I realized I had an extra stitch. So like a smart person, I dropped it. And what do you know!! it unraveled all the way upto the second pattern RIP.

So I have decided to frog it all and restart. Honestly the pattern is fairly intuitive and you get into a rhythm once you start.

Measured the ball of yarn today before starting the cast on. It is 101g. Last time I had tried a long tail cast on using two strands. I see now that is not a good idea because then I have two strands weave-in in a lacey garment.

Instead I have decided to go with the knitted cast-on also known as the lace cast on. Let’s see how much time I get this weekend to knit. I am not complaining because summer is here and I definitely need to step out of the house. Haha

Almost there, almost there. I have to frog some portion of my knitting as I forgot to start knitting in the flat from the armhole and up. The top is coming off quite quickly. I had thought that the triangle would be big enough that I wont need the straps, but I may do. I am going to block the top once all the 4 triangles are complete and then see how long do I need the straps to be

So finally blocked the top before adding the straps. I needed like 1/2 inch of straps but made them longer by mistake. Had to frog that and add smaller straps. But I think those are long too. Someday will probably remove the straps and attach the front and back together directly
