Used cable cast on. Tried to keep the stitches loose. Not sure how successful I was.
I originally bought the conch colorway only to realize that it was a bit too light for me and that I like the colorway Papaya Heather more. So have decided to use the conch for the collar nad neck band and make the rest of the jacket in papaya heather. Let’s see whether I like it or whether I will frog the whole thing.
In order to pick stitches from the shoulder, I picked up 3 sts for every 5 sts.

Took some progress photos and realized the pocket is sitting way below than expected. Checked my row gauge and it seems off
The swatch and required gauge was 24 rows but I have been knitting at 22. No wonder the shoulder seems wider and everything is hanging more down
It fits Raj very well and I don’t want to frog it so gonna go along with this. Tomo told me to sew the pockets and that makes sense. I will use Kitchener stitch to sew the pocket up but I think a line may still be visible.
Will probably apply a patch pocket by following this video tutorial
I thought of also adding side pockets (it’s convenient to have Pocket) but atleast for myself the length is almost there for the bottom so can’t do that either
Maybe when I knit this again for myself. Gotta see what to for the sleeve. I may stick to the pattern and see how long the sleeve gets. Anyway Raj’s arm is longer than mine

Forgot to add my increase techniques. The pattern does not call out any directed increase and just asks for increase so I decided to use directed on mine
For right side of the jacket (between MBM and the right front):
Knit side : M1R before and/or after the stitch marker towards the MBM. M1L before and/or after the stitch marker closer to the open edge.
Purl side : M1L before and/or after the stitch marker towards the MBM. M1R before and/or after the stitch marker closer to the open edge.
For left side of the jacket (between MBM and the left front):
Knit side : M1L before and/or after the stitch marker towards the MBM. M1R before and/or after the stitch marker closer to the open edge.
Purl side : M1R before and/or after the stitch marker towards the MBM. M1L before and/or after the stitch marker closer to the open edge.
After doing it for a couple rounds, this becomes fairly obvious to the eyes and to follow

Can you believe it? I am done with the body knitting!! WOW!! can’t believe it! I had a bit of a scare when the right side seemed to be hanging longer than the left side. I sat down and counted my stitches and realized while I was counting that it was because of the pocket opening. So I roughly sewed them together and phew!
Now off to binding the hem of the body. I have decided to use the Italian cast off as I need a little more stretchy bind off. The body seems to be a little less wide for Raj and I dont want a tight bind off to further pull the jacket away from his torso.
Once I am done with that, we will be off to knit the sleeves, I really wanted to knit both of the sleeves together but dont know how I can make that happen. Well I do have DPNs, so, who knows! This row gauge has got me worried and I saw Andrea Mowry’s post where her two sleeves were different because the row gauge was different when she was knitting. So I want to knit both of them together.
I have also decided to add a huge patch pocket after sewing the current pocket opening up. Raj wants a huge pocket
The sleeve length is different for Raj and I but I figured that I can always just fold the ribbing portion to make it look like I have folded cuffed jacket.. Gotta make this sweater work for both of us and make us look fab in it you know!! Still so much to do!!

Sleeve 1 complete! I bought 16” circular needles by Lykke during my trip to Portland and man were they helpful in quickly knitting the sleeve! I used the number of rows required for regular length. It hits Raj’s arm right above the wrist and below the wrist for me (which was expected) Ribbing is still left but I will add ribbing once the major part of both sleeves are complete and I have the right length
Onto Sleeve 2!

Sleeve 2
Completed the number of rows required and I am short by atleast an inch. My fears of the mismatch in row gauge for sleeve-1 v/s 2 stands true
Will knit extra rows to match the length and I think from now on, I will knit both sleeves simultaneously .

Finished the second sleeve and added the ribbing (around 12 rows). But I did not like the look of it. The sleeve looked too long on me. So I frogged back the entire ribbing and an additional 11 rows of the sleeve and started the ribbing from there. This looks much better but now I am running out of the contrast yarn that I am using for ribbing. This is way beyond yarn chicken I think and should just order another skein
