Notes

My dad was a microwave engineer who designed an antenna in the nose of the Enterprise, the first space shuttle, so I thought he might enjoy this. I added a flag (button) and USA as these details were specific to the Enterprise.

I’m glad Emily took the time to write this pattern but my apologies for not doing it justice with the details. I’m fine with the result, but I frogged a lot as it took a lot of concentration.

As the directions are “wordy” it helped me to write them out in shorthand, so that ‘2sc together in one stitch’ becomes (2sc)

Where it says “Wing” you are starting on the part that will attach to the nose, and the wings start @ R 25--where the established pattern changes. It would have helped me to see the separate pieces, labeled, before they were put together.

Yes the color change edges look messy, but you will later embroider them for a cleaner look.

When you change color, you don’t carry the unused thread underneath as in tapestry crochet, you leave it loose, and know that you will then be asked to turn the piece inside out, so leave the loose thread on the outside as you work.
