This piece is for my friend Dawn’s husband for their anniversary in August, so I’ve got to finish it up by mid-July. I’ve never had two large graphghan projects going at the same time, so it’ll be interesting to move back and forth between this and my CAL piece.

I’m also trying something new with this one. I read that if you yarn under rather than over, your stitches are more uniform and don’t have as much lean. I’m also trying to figure out how to make color transitions smoother on text.

Finished row 19 tonight, of 270. There’s 144 stitches per row, so I’m looking at 38,880 stitches total. Tonight’s work represents 2,736 of those stitches, bringing me to 7%.

It’s really nice having consistent yarn across the whole piece. I think the colors will work well together. Greyscale palettes are much harder to put together!

Finished row 30 - 11%.

Think I’m going to weave in ends before I start my next crochet session. That way I don’t have the ends nightmare I did with Alana’s Smaug blanket. Ugh, that was a nightmare.

Speaking of, saw this on FB today and it made me laugh. It’s rather appropriate… (too bad you can’t link images in notes.)

Man, I hate those letters and numbers. GAH!

Finished row 55 tonight. FINALLY finished with the text, so it’s moving pretty quickly. :)

Finished row 70 last night 25%! These rows are going so fast now that I’m out of the text area. Woot!

Don’t think it’s going to be big enough without a border though…

Finished row 92 before I had to give my wrists a break. That’s 34%!

Finished row 137 which brings me to 50%! Finally hitting rows with fewer color changes, so things are moving more quickly. Tons of ends to weave though. :/

Finished row 165 today. That’s 61%. It won’t be as long as I had hoped so I’ll have to add some rows at top and bottom before I add my border, but I’m pretty happy with the way it’s coming out.

Finished row 154 of 270 - that’s 72%.

Am really hoping it doesn’t need much of a border, because I’ve only got half a skein of black left.

Finished row 219 - 81%. Carpal Tunnel is getting sooo bad.

I’m thinking it’s going to be big enough to not need a border though, so that’s great!

Finished weaving in all of the ends today and got it off in the mail.

I ran out of black (used 3 skeins!) so I didn’t do the entire 270 rows, but I got to 265, so I’m feeling ok with that.
