Notes

5/12/19
55.6 grams for Pair #2. 56.4 grams for Pair #1. 29.2 grams leftover for a Newborn hat.

5/8/19
First pair of socks made up of socks #2 & #3. I made jogless stripes for the 1st time in the gusset. I lucked out. The two socks match pretty well. Now to make a mate for sock #1.

5/7/19
Finished the 2nd sock in the first pair. Now to start the 2nd pair of socks. Again, my intent is to use up the small balls of yarn before starting the skein.

5/5/19
Used double pointed needles inherited from my mother.
Weight: Used 28.72 gr of yarn for the 1st sock. Should be a total of 57.5 gr for a pair. I have 111 gr left. I can finish this pair and make a 2nd pair; and have 23 gr leftover for a newborn baby hat.

Dimensions: 9.5” long from heal to tip of toe; toe decreases are 2” long. 5” (52 rows) from end of gusset decreases to start of toe decreases. My foot measures 9.5” long and 9” wide.

It took me three times of ripping out the toe to get the sock length right. I could have done 2-3 more instep decreases to get the foot the right width, as it’s a little wide. Let’s see what it’s like after it’s been washed.

5/2/19
I’m using a pair of socks that my sister knitted for me as a guide. Based on them, I made the following modifications to this pattern to make an Adult Medium sock:
1) Used a Cable CO of 64 sts on US 4 needles, then switched to US 2 (2.75mm) for the rest of the sock.
2) Leg is 3” long since this is a summer time sock. I’ll turn the top over into a 1.5” cuff.
3) I knitted behind the stitch for all the picked up gusset stitches. The added twist tightens up the stitches along the gusset.
4) The foot is 64 sts wide. I continued with k2, p2 ribbing for the whole instep. That will tighten the body of the sock around the foot. It’s not exactly centered, but that’s hardly noticeable.
5) I stopped the toe decreases at 16 sts; I like the way it looks when finished.

I’m using up the little balls of leftover yarn first. The blue colors will make up the leg. Pink colors will start the foot.

I have 1.4 skeins and 647 yd to use. Need 434 yds.
