Notes

2/18/20
I used addi circulars for these socks, and they are sized differently than others. I actually used 2.50mm (US 1.5) for the main part of the sock and then 3.0mm (US 2.5) for the leg. I probably used a 2.0mm (US 0) for the toes and heals for a dense fabric, so that they will wear longer.

9/15/19
Finished. 2AAT didn’t work as well for me as 1AAT, so I reverted back to One At A Time (1AAT). As long as I count rows, they match.

9/11/19
Caught up the 2nd sock with the 1st sock. Now
working on the legs of both socks Two At A Time (2AAT) with US 2 needles. Let’s see if I can get used to 2AAT.

9/7/19 - Purple Haze Socks for Vic
Using the same patterns in Purple Haze colorway. I used a single strand of Lion Brand Sock-Ease for the toes & heels and reinforced it with purple Woolly Nylon Thread to see how that works. This time I reinforced the whole toe and heel flap. And I reinforced the sole portion of the heel for the last half of the gusset (instead of the last 1/3 of the gusset).

9/7/19 - Brown Marl Socks for Alex
Finished, and they are lovely.

9/4/19
I really love how these socks are turning out. I’ll switch to US 2 needles once I get 1” of leg knitted with US 1s.

1st go around with the heel made the foot too short, so I had frog it back and recalculate when to start the gusset-heel. I’m using David’s Toe-Up Sock Cookbook for stitch counts and the traditional heel. He included negative ease for the length and width so the sock fits snug on the foot. It turned out really, really nice the 2nd time and fits me perfectly. I will use this plan for all my socks. I also reinforced the heel’s sole and back with the Jawoll. I started the heel’s sole reinforcement 2/3s of the way into the gusset increases. I.E. When 10 of 15 increases had been made.

9/2/19
Changed my mind to make toe up socks, because I want to use just the right amount of yarn for the leg. US 1 Turkish CO of 24 sts (12 on each side). Added Jawoll Reinforcement for toes on row to inc to 16 sts. Kept it in use until I finished the inc to 28 sts. Did another set of inc to 30 sts to transition the fabric from toe to foot. Switched to US 0 needles for first complete unit of lace (16 rows), so it fits snug around all toes. Switched to US 1 needles for rest of foot, gusset, & heel and start of leg.

I’m using the Tumbling Blocks lace pattern and fitting suggestions from the two additional patterns.

Alex’s foot length: 9.5”; shoe size is 7.5, regular width.
I’ve been casting on 56 sts for my wide foot, so I hope 60 sts (Small size) fits her regular width. The lace pattern is a 10 st repeat; therefore, there are only 2 sizes: Small (60 st) and Medium (70 st) CO. At 4.5” into the sock, 60 sts fits around my foot fine. slightly_smiling_face
