Notes

10/8/19- Cloud Nine
Finished.

10/3/19
Might as well make another pair out of the last skein of Flikka. Used US 3 needles, but made them with the same features as the Keepsake pair.

10/3/19- Keepsake
Toes-up. I added a 10 st gusset (5 sts on each side) with this pair of socks. I joined them in as if it was a regular Heel Stitch heel after the Fish Lips Kiss heel was finished. Worked perfectly.

I made one major mistake. I knitted the 1st sock with US 4 needles and accidently the 2nd sock on US 3s. Not much difference in the length, but the 2nd sock is narrower than the first. Not going to reknit it at this point, because I’m 5 rows from finishing it. It’ll have to be a design feature, because they are hard to tell apart. I’ll find out over time which one wears better, if I can tell which one is which.

9/29/19
Using US 4 needles, CO 20 sts with Turkish CO, which is 10 sts for each side. Increased to 22 across (44 sts total). Going to use David’s Toe-Up Sock Cookbook method this time, but with a FLK heel and a 10 st gusset.

7/14/19- Library Book
Finished the top down 2nd sock. Surprise! They look exactly the same. Used the whole skein for the pair, because I cut and remade the leg. 9.5” long.

7/13/19- Cuff to Toes 2nd Sock
CO 44 sts using Hungarian/German Twisted CO and US 6 needles so that it is loose enough to match the BO on the 1st sock. It fits nicely over my instep & heel.

3.5” of Stockinette before starting the heel.
FLK heel stitch division is 7 - 8 - 7, which fits me well.

7/11/19
Finished the 1st sock. Weight: 43.7 grams. 58 grams left for 2nd sock.

Since there’s so much acceptance for mismatched socks, I should make the 2nd sock top down for comparison. wink

7/10/19- Toes Up to Cuff 1st Sock
Using US 4 needles, CO 20 sts with Turkish CO, which is 10 sts for each side. Increased to 22 across (44 sts total). 48 was too wide but the right length to my pinky toe. 40 was too narrow and too short. Hopefully 44 will be just right. Also using Fish Lips Kiss Heel instructions. Made my cardboard tracing of my foot. Here we go!

The skein of Flikka was inexpensive; therefore, it’s a good choice for a first time project to learn how to make toe up socks using Magic Loop, Turkish CO and Hungarian/Twisted German CO. I’ve been watching YouTube videos too.
