Using a spreadsheet, I calculated halfway in the Silverleaf shawl by counting the stitches for each 10 row panel and then adding them up. 50% is around 130 stitches, if 184 sts is 100%.

Finished. It looks better in person than in the photos. I really like it.
Dimensions: 18.5” x 74”

If I had enough yarn, I would have planned for one stripe each of coral and aqua near the final edge of the shawl. I had to break up the aqua and coral colors into six stripes to stay within the limited amount of yarn I had. I also had to consider the row placement of the lace panels, because they were dependent on a planned number of stitches to accommodate the trapezoid shape of the shawl. And I wanted to make it around 70” long. So I had three objectives for this shawl.

Change of plans after putting some thought into what I really need to do. It’s not as simple as I thought.

On graph paper, I drew out the 14 st x 16 row lace unit, the 8 decrease stitches and the 16 increase stitches. Then I made a sample of the lace panel after CO 8 sts for the total dec sts and 28 sts for the two 14 st lace units; see photo. I used stockinette st for the additional & decreased edge stitches. The I figured out how many stitches I need to start each lace panel in each of the three colors.

In Taupe, the 1st lace panel starts after knitting until I had 92 sts; and the lace panel ends on the 16th row with 100 sts.

I’ll do 20 more rows of taupe in garter stitch.
Then in Aqua, I’ll do 20 rows of garter st and 16 rows of the lace panel.
Then in Taupe, 20 rows of garter st.
Then in Coral, I’ll do 20 rows of garter st and 16 rows of lace panel.
Then in Taupe, I’ll do 20 rows of garter st and 14 rows of lace panel before the picot & stretchy BO.

I should have enough yarn for each of the color sections. I will have to calculate cumulative stitches and yarn used to estimate how many sts each panel will take.

I’ll garter stitch in Taupe until I have 110 sts. Then I’ll do one band each of Odyssey garter stitch & lace in each color: Aqua, then Coral, and then end in Taupe.

I frogged my Odyssey shawl for reasons posted in that project. Therefore, I’m reusing the Marnel yarn in an asymmetrical shawl. I’m using Silverleaf for the basic pattern. I’ll hope to use the Odyssey lace pattern at the end of each color transition and then at the end. I’ll knit in Taupe until I get a firm vision in my head of the design.

My mother bought this yarn in Oregon to make a sleeveless summer time sweater back in the 80s. I posted the picture.
