Notes

This will be a part of the Knitting For GOLD project which will be a collection of knit and crocheted patterns for Childhood Cancer Awareness. Gold is the colour for childhood cancer as our children are more precious than gold although you would never know it based on how little is spent on childhood cancer research by our governments and big pharma. As it is children are given treatments designed for adults causing at least 70% of childhood cancer survivors to deal with chronic health issues as a result of the chemo like my daughter, Bronwyn, who now needs a heart transplant. The chemo that killed her cancer killed her heart. Yes, more children survive cancer then they did 30 years ago but at a great and disabling cost. Watch the film The Truth 365 on YouTube for more details. If you would like to be a part of this project and design a pattern or create a dye lot of gold yarn to be used please send me a pm.

March 9th’13: just started. Test knitting using colour charts I designed. I plan on making a caplet but might be a vest or even scarf or all 3 or something else! So far pleased with test knit but it is a little loose so will next try smaller needle size.

About the yarn: I love Rhichard’s yarn! It has a great feel and stitch definition which is what you want in fair isle and intarsia. His colours are brilliant and I love the semi solids and speckled effects.

Dec, 18th, ‘13: Dedicated to Carolyn: Each of my Knitting for Gold projects has been inspired by a mom of a child with a cancer diagnosis, except for this one, until now. My friend, Carolyn, a pre-cancer friend, whose son valiantly fought brain cancer last year is now 8 y/o but the cancer has returned and Sammy has run out of options. He has only a month or two left with his family. Carolyn described to me how precious every cuddle has become and then I knew why I was designing this caplet and why I called it Cuddle.
