Notes

OK, this is to document my ongoing sock darning. I’m striving to make these as neat as possible (ie. use duplicate stitch and the original sock yarn)!

In many cases I do not wait until a large hole appears; it’s best to jump to the pumps as soon as you start to see a little wear ‘n tear happening - this because it is far, far easier to darn over existing stitches than over The Void.

In fact, I would go so far as to suggest that if you know where the socks are going to “go” (in my case, it’s pretty obvious…the big toe is the major offender!), duplicate stitch a double layer there as soon as you’ve finished knitting!

The two pairs of socks which have gone at the heel are both knit in no-nylon “sock” yarn. Lesson: don’t use sock yarn with no nylon. I added reinforcement thread to the goldeny-greeny ones at the heel, but the holes appear above where the reinforcement thread stops.

heheh…I’m using the “copyright” thingy to label my photos…
