Top- down. Like a Toe-up sock. Used JMCO to cast on 10 stitches.

M1 every other round until 20 stitches each needle. Pattern: Row 1: K5, P2, CF6 (cable over 6 stitches on front of work), P2, K5. Repeat this for the front of the mitten. Just knit all the stitches for the back of the mitten. Row 2 - 7: knit all stitches as they are. Reapeat this sequence of 8 rows 4 times ( 32 rows).

Thumb: 6 st. on 24th row on scrap yarn:

Cuff: K2, P2 for 14 rows.
