Notes

Handknitted mittens from the softest yarn I have yet seen and had the pleasure to knit wit. It is called Opus 1 from Atelier Zitron. It has Aloe Vera and Jojoba in it. Very, very soft so it makes these mittens extremely comfortable to wear. This time I knitted a lining from Drops Alpaca in it to make it extra warm.

I like the fact that they are not exactly the same but that you can see they are knitted from the same skein. The mittens are about 24 cm. long. They will fit a small to medium sized hand. Made the pattern up myself.

Knitted in the round so there are no seams. Used the Elisabeth Zimmermann method for the thumb. That is: put some st. on a piece of contrasting thread. Knit like nothing has happened and finish the mitten. Pick up these st. and make the thumb like a mini mitten.

When the mitten was done I picked up the same amount of st. on the inside of the cuff and knit a whole new inside mitten that fits into the outside mitten. With thumb and all. A lot of work but oh so worth it.

Finished them last night. So warm and comfy!
