The pattern called for an H hook, but the gauge worked up with a drape like steel armor so I increased to a K. I think I should have increased to L or even M, or switched from worsted weight yarn to fingering weight to get a nice, flowing drape.

While I started this project intending to create a scarf, I noticed that the scarf was becoming a bowl. I paused on Tuesday to block what I’d done so far. By Wednesday night, the bowl effect was mostly gone, but not fully. By Thursday morning, the bowl completely returned.

So I decided last night to just stop adding length and turn this into a cowl so that the bowl effect wouldn’t looks so bad.

I think the problem is my yarn selection. A fingering weight is probably the way to go. Not only would the hook size be closer to what the pattern calls for, but I have a hunch that blocking would have a longer lasting effect.
