Kid size (6-10 yrs):
CO 80 st on four pointed needles. Join in the round. Work rib k2p2 for 15 rounds or appr. 6 cm.
Continue in st st, increasing to 84 st total.
After 4 rounds, start on the star pattern, knitting the pattern in purl.
After 30 rounds from the rib, start decreasing: k2, k2tog. Repeat throughout the round = 63 st total.
Knit 4 rounds. K1, k2tog throughout the next round = 42 st total.
Knit 2 rounds. K2tog throughout the round = 26 st total. Break yarn, pull it through the remaining st and fasten.
