Helpful pattern hints:
On page 2, the directions about the charts are a little vague - you knit all the charts at the same time, not sequentially.
To keep the different charts straight on the needles, I used three different stitch markers before the each repeat or changes in the charts on the right side - one color for chart 2 (which is used 3x on each side), one for chart 3 (at the center), and chart 4 (the far left side) This helped me know where I was, and keep my stitch counts correct.
Put in a lifeline at the end of the garter section - that way if you screw up, you can go back to the beginning of the lace section easily.
Yardage:
I’m using 100 g of a sock-weight superwash yarn - 400 yards, which is slightly below what the pattern calls for - I have a plan if I think I’ll run short. At the end of the garter section, I had used 50 g. I will track my usage every few rows so that future knitters will be able to judge their own yardage.
After completing lace chart row, g remaining
Row 0: 50 g
Row 4: 46 g
Row 8: 41 g
Row 14: 35 g
Row 18: 30 g
Row 21: 28 g (half-way through chart, not counting cast-off)
Row 28: 20 g
Row 32: 15 g
Row 36: 10 g
Row 39: 5 g
Row 41: 2 g
I’m currently on Row 41, wondering if there’s another tech issue in the pattern. Update-was using a marked-up older version of the pattern - hadn’t noticed the changes in the last couple of rows. Updated one makes sense. Whew!
Completed Row 41. I’m not sure I have enough to even cast-off at this point. Pondering the choices.
Looked at my lace & fingerweight yarns. Nothing that seems like a good choice at the moment.
Decided to cast-off after Row 41, ran out of yarn 2/3 of the way across, then I just used the loops on the needle to cast off. Probably the best solution all in all.
