A hat to match the Buttons Baby cardigan, with a knitted hem and garter band.

Provisional cast-on with JMCO 80 stitches on each needle using two circular. Needles. Let one circular drop Knit one side flat for 4 rows, then join in round, knit 1 1/4 inches. Purl one round for turning ridge. Knit garter to equal the stockinette.

Knit together the inside hem to outside on a knit round.

Knit to 5.25”from brim, then begin decreases as follows:

Rd 1: K8, k2tog, repeat pattern to end of round
Rd 2, 4, 6 and 8: knit.
Rd 3: k7, k2tog
Follow the odd decreases to rd 9, then decrease each round to 16 sts. Cut long tail, thread through remaining loops , tighten and weave in.

Make one pompom (I used a 1 5/8” pompom maker) and attach.

Make pompom and attach to top of hat.
