I’ve wanted to make this pattern for a while, and finally had yarn and time. Boy it’s been an adventure, mostly user error on this one. I wasn’t really reading the pattern, just glancing and then thinking I knew what to do. Bad idea. I cast on about five times, ripped out several sections, etc. it’s been a comedy of errors.

1/10/2015 My recommendation is to really pay attention through the whole pattern and check out the Marin Help thread in Ysolda’s group for support.

1/11/2015 I didn’t weight the yarn before I started, so when I got to the midpoint, I became concerned that I would run out of yarn, so I knit tighter. Then about 80 percent of the way done, I realized I liked the 2nd half of the shawl’s gauge a LOT better than the first half. I could have simply finished it, but this is a luxury, hand-dyed yarn that deserves better. So, I am frogging back to the beginning to knit it tighter (probably on a Size 2 needle instead of Size 3), and be happy with the result.

1/14/2015 - ended up using the Size 3 and used up all but 8 gram of yarn. Gotta block this to see how it comes out!

1/15/2015 - Yarn is growing some in blocking, which is good. Can’t wait for it to dry!
