for her birthday! The yarn is very yummy!

4/11 - having knit the swatch, I realized that the color is so dark that the lovely stitch pattern disappears, and I’m not doing all this knitting if it isn’t going to show. I’m trading out the Sea color for Lagoon.

And, the swatch is too small. So, I’ll knit another with a size larger needle to see how it goes - this might be one of those times I actually use the needle size listed in the pattern.

4/12 - the Size 5 needle seems to be working. Unfortunately, I’m heading out of town and don’t know when I’ll be back to connect with my yarn…

4/16 - My mom is in the hospital, so this is going on the back burner for the time being.

5/21 - I’m back, I got the new color of yarn -- looking forward to starting this again.

6/4 - I’m finishing up on the back - so far, it looks great! Now that I’ve blocked the back, I know that I can get the right measurements - I’m making it about an inch longer than the pattern - it seems very short to me.

7/1 - the fronts went quickly. I just finished the first sleeve with the elm pattern, and made the sleeve a bit longer for my cousin, since sleeves are often short. It came out on gauge, so I’m down to the 2nd sleeve!

7/7 - 2nd sleeve done, time to block the remaining pieces.

7/9 - pieces blocked, time to put this baby together.

8/10 - Putting the sweater together at last - going faster than I thought. Blocking the pieces before hand I think is very helpful to making it so easy. One more sleeve to go into an armscythe, then it’s onto the back neck (I’m saving that for last), and the crochet edging.

Later in the day: sleeves done, neck edging done, crochet edging complete, ends woven in, and reblocking the assembled sweater! Will have to wait for button ‘til I can rendevous with the recipient!

8/11/10 - Done, except for the buttons!

8/15/10 - Buttons added with Allison in the room - and it looks great on her!
