Cast on last night with 64 sts, but now thinking I got the math wrong. If the stitch pattern is 9 sts to the inch, then I need to cast on either 68 or 72 sts. So I’ll need to rip out and try again. I’m using needles one size smaller than usual, which makes everything more tricky,

Later: I decided that the cuffs are not too tight, so I simply increased 2 sts on each side to 68 sts before continuing with the leg pattern. It seems to be working so far.

1/1/2014 - going well. Pattern is written for various sizes, but I’m not wild about the side band of stockinette on each side for my size. Ribbing would have been more attractive, but it’s not the way the pattern was written, and I didn’t dare mess with my first sock in her book. Oh well, live and learn!

1/2/2014 - Second sock underway and mostly done. Way easier the second time around. I would change the side pattern of the band along the leg of the socks, but the first sock fits really well, and I’m happy with the resulting socks.
