Notes

Calls for Anny Blatt Nanook yarn but this Kodiak is very similar & a lot less $$$. Hard to figure out this pattern but am giving it a try. Good thing I like a challenge. Translated from French & mostly a chart.

Oct 1, 2015 - got to midpoint of back and realized I had 20 extra stitches and found my mistake: wasn’t supposed to increase at edges. So I started over today and am also making the smallest size now instead of medium.

Yarn #5 Bulky, care:hand wash in cool water, lay flat to dry. Dye lot 7112, color 7020, 61% baby alpaca, 24% nylon, 15% merino wool. Gauge 3 STs = 1”, 12 DTS, 21 rows = 4” info on ball band.

Oct. 26, 2015 - after knitting most of Sunday I finished the top piece whichis the top front, back and sleeves. Now concerned it will be too small but will block and see what happens. Really not wanting to start this over for the third time.

Oct. 15, 2015 - reached midpoint of back, bound off for neck. Looks so much better now that it’s not so huge!

I hope to divide my time now between this and the baby blanket for Calvin - gotta get that blanket done before he’s 18! (he’s only two months now!).

1-1-16 - blanket should be done in two weeks and then I can return to this. Eager to get back to it and finish it. Not a lot left to do on it.

Feb - finished blanket and now back to this. I think it will be too small so am reknitting it in size M. Yes, getting a bit sick of it but will finish it so I can start something new.

May 13, 2016. Finally finished the redo in a larger size (green lines) and started sewing it together tonight.

May 24 - it is being steam blocked now! I found directions for crochet buttons on the net - pretty simple to make. I like the sweater very much, I don’t like it on me, however. Maybe I’ll like it better this winter when I am wearing a turtleneck under it. The pattern was fun to knit because it is very unusual. Love the yarn; very soft, very warm, very lightweight, not scratchy. Am thinking of buying more of this yarn to make a cozy turtleneck for winter.
BTW, I ordered this book from annyblatt.com. The book is in French but it has an English supplement with directions for all patterns. Be forewarned that European patterns don’t have all the detail that we Americans are used to; I had to really look at the diagrams to figure this out. If anyone needs help, just message me; I’ll be glad to help in any way I can.

July, 2022: have lost 16 pounds this spring, tried on this sweater and the waist fits perfectly now. Was too tight before and I had intentions of resewing the top and bottom halves to make it looser. So glad I didn’t- better to lose weight than redo a sweater grinning.
