This is an improvised scarf/cowl sampler designed around assigned pooling techniques I learned while working on “Glide” by Dawn Barker https://www.ravelry.com/projects/rhyolyn/glide
I used a provisional cast on and one full skein of variegated yarn with assigned florets in three different colors. Then experimented with lace patterns on either side of the assigned pooling section. This is a very busy project and would have looked better without the daisy chain border on the long edges, but I originally planed to make a circular cowl with an i-chord border, so I had to do something to keep the edge from curling. If I were to do it again I’d do a garter edge and leave the long sides unembellished. Despite the business, the daisy chain was fun and works as an eyelet for cinching or joining in a circle as a long cowl.
The variegated yarn featured in this piece was from a mystery OOAK order. I LOVE these, because they encourage me to play with colors and patterns I’m not innately drawn to. I did end up falling in love with this color combo. My only complaint is that the variegated skein wasn’t colorfast (first time ever having this problem with Tosh MO light), and it bled all over the neutral and light blue sections when I washed it for blocking. There are little fuchsia and green floret ghosts all over those lighter sections. It’s still wearable, but would look nicer with clean cream and blue. The semi-solid fuchsia was also an OOAK mystery order, but it was colorfast.
