Couldn’t wait any longer. Despite 2 large projects on the needles nearing completion I had to start this one today. It was calling me. Almost through the pattern section one which means I’m into my second color change (back to the variegated).

Section 1 of the pattern complete. Changed back to the grey (CC) for the start of section two. Loving the yarn, the colors, and the lack of pooling!

Section 2 of the pattern complete. I think it’s one more grey stripe and then the next CC part should be the merlot color, but I’ll have to double check.

Got through the next CC section - still have a good portion of the Dove cake left, will have to decide what to do with the next CC section - Dove or Merlot.

Finished section 3 of the pattern. At the end of the last variegated portion I only had about 5g left of the first skein. I only used about 1/2 a skein of the Dove (grey) color, but for the next solid color portion I switched to Merlot. The rows are long now, I suspect I’ll end up using more of the Merlot than the Dove, which works for me, I’ll use the Dove in another project someday.

This yarn has been a dream to work with, I need more!

Finished the first Merlot section and am almost done with the next variegated section. Getting close to the border already! But the rows are long and so I think I still have a few more weeks to go before it’s finished.

I’m into section five and through the first of two times through rows 1-10. This is the first section I’ve been able to use stitch markers. For all the other sections, the markers shifted each row which made them essentially useless for me. Thankfully on the longest rows of the project I can use them. The good news is that this project tested my ability to read my knitting, and I passed! I am thrilled about that. Not sure I love the Merlot - the color is fine, and it compliments the variegated well, but it’s somewhat dark in comparison to the Dove and I think it may detract from the overall look. Too late now, hopefully the second section of Merlot will balance the overall project a bit.

Finished section 5 of the pattern which was the last solid color section (Merlot). I had 5yds of yarn left at the end of the last row. Phew.

All that’s left is the border and the bind off. Going to finish it with the Nightwalker color.

Off the needles this morning! I love her already, even before blocking. May have to wait a few weeks to block her since I have houseguests and not enough floor space as a result, but I am super thrilled with this project. This is the first project ever that every row was spot on and I have not created any independent design elements. Yahoo!!

Soaked and blocking. Holy cow, she is huge!!! Bigger than any blocking apparatus I have available to me, including floor space and beds, so I had to get creative, but it’s happening. Pictures soon.
