Notes

April / May Garment KAL. Start with the center pull for the dark at the bottom.

04-08-2021

Cast on with Chinese Waitress cast on. With the 4 independent yarn strands the long tail cast on called for was just a twisted mess. Fabric is loose, but I think it’ll be really nice for a summer top, especially with the cotton. I do not anticipate much growth with blocking.

04-10-2021

Got 10 rows complete and then realized my cast on was twisted. Argh. Frogged and started over. Got it back on track.

First strand of color change at the end of round 6. Second strand of color change at the end of round 16. Up to 25 rounds now.

04-11-2021

Third strand of color change at the end of round 27. Fourth strand of color change at the end of round 38. Fifth strand of color change at the end of round 50.

04-14-2021

Sixth strand of color change at the end of round 64. Seventh strand of color change in the middle of round 76.

04-16-2021

Eighth strand of color change at the beginning of round 92.

04-17-2021

Split the front and back.

Ninth strand of color shift on the second row of the back.

Finished the first section of the back. Should have thought through the whole gradient thing, with the back worked separately than the front I’m going to have a less gradual shift of color on the front than I planned. The color is light enough and blended enough to work, but I do wish we were working in the round for the whole project.

04-18-2021

Tenth strand of color shift on the 43rd row of the back.

Back complete, shoulder short rows worked for each side and shoulders are on a holder. Front stiches back on the working needle, first set of decrease rows complete.

04-20-2021

Eleventh strand of color shift on the 27th row of the front.

Finished the main part of the front. Next row is the neckline bind off.

04-27-2021

Off the needles April 21. 2021. The gradient worked out well along the top - despite jumping from back to front you can’t tell. Never got to the last few color changes of the yarn. so that single skein went far.

What a lovely little summer top, perfect for the cotton yarn.
