I made this more complicated than necessary by using three colors. (I think I included 4 or 5 cells that were yellow, but only one is visible in the photos.) It was a bit futsy to wrestle all the tangling yarn. Combining stranding (in the round, no less) and bobbins wasn’t my idea of a good time. Turned out cute and matched the jacket that my youngest wears perfectly…until the zipper broke one week later. &$%. Guess I’ll be knitting another one.

The pattern doesn’t mention how to do two colors, so here’s the skinny: Knit the garter ridges in the outline color. In the rows where you slip stitches, knit with the interior color. The slipped stitches are the color of the outline and get carried along but not knit. Works like a charm. Adding the occasional third color? Use a bobbin and search for a tutorial on intarsia in the round . Good luck!
