I have previously made Little Monkey’s call the midwife blanket which I love and think is an amazing pattern. I always turn people to it when looking for a new blanket to make.
I managed to get my hands on this pattern and was dying to make it. It is quite large I must say, it is 16 squares long and 21 squares high. I’m using a much smaller hook than last time an E vs the 4.5 I used previously. This pattern is also straight forward and easy enough to do in my sleep. I did have some issues converting the yarn ( i am using the wrong yarn according to the pattern, it requires 3ply) it also didn’t give any yardage and both yarns given are discontinued (Patons beehive fingering and Patons Carefree Canadiana Fingering) and I can’t really seem to find the yardage of the 1oz balls. Best guess is somewhere around 2K yards based on some digging, but that is not 100% positive.

ETA: this took a ton of yarn. I wound up using an extra 4 oz of yarn. I do not know the yardage of the remainder yarn needed as I was using previously used skeins. At any rate. I had originally calculated something like 2304 yards. I’m fairly certain that is probably the amount used. Combined I had 9.8 oz of yarn remaining from two leftover skeins. so another half skein. Totally weight of the blanket is 25.7oz of yarn.

FYI this blanket is quite large 130x124.5 cm. or 51 and 1/4x 49 inches.
